Great food, nice atmosphere, will definitely come back again!

First place I ever tried sushi 7 years ago and its still the best sushi I have ever had. Better than some California sushi I have had. So fresh.

So I like this place but I like most sushi restaurants. Is there anything special about Kato? Well not really but I will say they have fresher fish then some other places I frequent which isn't anything to scoff at when you are north of the river. Its a nice spot but its forgettable and the sushi maybe fresher by a lil but I feel like the chefs are a tad bit less experienced than some other places. Still a fine place to gwt a bite, I truly believe that their fish is slightly fresher

I asked the sushi chef at the bar to "surprise me" and he did so. One of the best sushi experiences I've had, even at high end restaurants in the city. The guy loves what he does and that shows in his work.

I would say this is the BEST sushi restaurant the Northland has! The staff is super friendly, the I LOVE their sushi. Something about the total experience sets them apart from the rest. I highly recommend this place when you've got a hankering for sushi. You won't be disappointed.

Been going to Kato for almost 10 years, and have always gotten great sushi. They also have an excellent lunch special. Highly recommend.

Food was not good and they didn't even have salt or pepper on the table. We had to ask for it. Salt and pepper!

Dining only for small parties (only one table in the whole place is large enough to seat more than 4 persons). However it has good food and good service albeit sparse of ingredients.

Service was great. Rice was not as fresh as I would have liked and has at other places, but other than than that.. great place.

I'm not a big sushi fan at all, but after going here it has definately changed my outlook and perception to a more positive one. Thank you for the great meal presentation and service.

Always great food. Love the atmosphere. We go about once a week.

The food is very good, reasonably priced. The staff is usually good. I enjoy sitting at the sushi bar and watch them prepare the rolls.

Great service! Great soup! Great salad! Fried rice seemed a bit oily but was still good. Got a free chocolate cake for my birthday (yay)!

I eat here as often as i can. The crunchy crab roll and the spicy crab salad are my favorites. The staff is friendly. The food is fresh and delicious and its a great quiet place. The only complaint i would have is that they never have any fatty tuna even though its on their menu.

The sushi was alright and the service left little to be desired. Our waiter kept standing by the bar texting and when they came to get our drinks orders they took one drink order and left. Then they came back and got another drink order, this happened a total of 4 times. It was not a big deal but was slightly anoying. Overall the sushi was good but very expensive. There are some sushi restaurants around KC that are better.

The sushi was good. Nothing to rave about but good and priced comparable to other places around KC. I also ordered off of the cooked menu and this is really where they fell short. The tempura batter didn't crunch and coat as it should have. I presume the fryer oil was dirty because everything came out a dark brown color and had a very off putting flavor to it. Staff was friendly, dining room was dated, rundown, but clean. Wasn't a terrible experience but you can do better in the area.

Kato has a good selection of sushi and sashimi options. The food is delicious and the service is pretty good. The atmosphere is adequate but the staff seemed a bit distracted at times.

The rocknrolla sushi and the spicy shrimp sushi are some of the best I've had.

This place is fantastic! Easily the best Sushi / Hibachi restaurant in the area!The sushi is absolutely fantastic! The rice is cooked correctly and is fresh and warm on each roll. The rice just melts away in your mouth finely binding all the wonderful innards of the sushi.The tempura is thin as air and has a wonderful crunch.The hibachi steak is heavenly! cooked to perfection and disappears quickly.

I eat here once a week and never have a bad experience. The sushi chefs are great and the hosts/hostesses are also, when they're not too busy.I almost always order the shrimp tempura appetizer and the chirashi,a sort of chefs' choice of sashimi, usually about 15-18 smaller pieces arranged beautifully atop a bed of rice. Always wonderful.I've tried other sushi and sashimidishes and they're great as is the curry, but I always go back to chirashi. As I said, I try to get there weekly and plan to go back tonight...see you there!

We had a hundred dollars worth of food and drinks, and it was enjoyable. Good service, good food, ice cold Sapporo Beer. Not quite as Japanese as I'd like, but good enough.

Got sat down and ignored. Not even water or anything and had 3 tables sat around us and they were being attended to while we sat patiently. Left after 10 minutes and went to KC Sushi where we have been very well attended to.

The restaurant seems clean. However, we sat down and waited over 30 minutes. We were well dressed and properly attired. There were 4 servers standing the sushi looking at us. The bartender was standing there on his phone. We watch people walked by us and noticed we haven't been served. We use to know the owners. I usually give everyone a fair opportunity but, we were getting frustrated how they were just standing there and catering to the "other" kind of people. Hopefully it gets better the next time we visit.

Awesome sushi!!!!!! Prices were great for the amount you get, the crab Rangoon was amazing! The service was fast & the staff was very friendly. I will be back!

Good prices, good service and great food! I love the tempura shrimp and crunchy crab rolls. In the picture, you can see those two rolls and an order of fried rice and a cucumber roll. My husband and I love the green tea and dumplings as well!

Food is good, but the prices are heading up hill.....

Great place for sushi and a few traditional Japanese dishes. Staff are polite and fun. Even has a fairly good sake menu. One of the best sushi places in the Northland!

Great low key place for excellent sushi. Chefs are both skilled with their in-house creations as well as your custom requests. Prices are very reasonable as well. No better place up north and rivals some of the best KC has to offer.

The lunch bento boxes are a pretty solid deal if you're looking to not break the bank at a sushi place. Happy hour also has some good deals on a few of the more simple rolls. Other then that, pretty standard sushi restaurant.

Good food, great service, sushi... only flaw is the price. A bit too expensive.

The sushi is well above average. I've also had their bento boxes and udon, and thoroughly enjoyed every meal at Kato. The salad dressing is quite sweet, I like it, but this is fair warning for those that may not.

A bit biased because we have been coming here for at least 12 years. Best fish in town as far as i am concerned. Clear soup and some good rolls or sashimi makes for a good time.

The bento boxes are awesome for lunch and make great take-out.

It’s closing night and I couldn’t be more depressed. This is my favorite place by far. I don’t know how many times I’ve recommended it to my friends and family. The food and service is always amazing and I’m going to miss it so much. I honestly don’t know where I’m going to go to get fantastic sushi and such wonderful atmosphere. Love you guys! ❤️❤️❤️

Wonderful place for sushi esp but they do great with regular meals too. nice restaurant, right off major road so easy to find and not far from hwy. sit at the sushi bar if you can since its fun to see the food being made

Staff super friendly. Clean and welcoming environment. Food is mediocre. More of a bland salty taste rather than the pinch of sweet most of us like.

Good sushi, but some of the most expensive ive ever been to for everyday sushi and drinks. Service was good and quick.

We had a very nice evening here. The waiter was prompt and very kind, our food was fresh, well-prepared and delicious, and the atmosphere calm and well-decorated. I had the Bento Box and very much enjoyed it.

Everything was fresh and served with a smile.The dumplings with wasabi were so good with a light crispy bottom and juicy center of fragrantly spiced pork.The wasabi not overpowering light and flavorful.The sushi beautifully prepared and presented.The crab salad is a must try.I wish I could've had a large bowl , I could eat that alone and be satisfied.The fried rice bowl was delicious! And I can't forget the hot green tea pot and free refills of that matcha goodness with a squeeze of lemon.Great place for lunch or dinner! The best in the area as far as we're concerned.

Good.... didnt make my head spin or say oh man this is on the rotation. If i am over that way i might stop again..it was good..... great staff!

The food is decent and prices are only slightly higher than we are used to paying at some of the other local sushi places. While the food was ok it was not as good as some of their local competition especially for a bit more money. The staff was friendly though and the restaurant was well kept. It does maintain a nicer ambiance than a few of the closest competitors but the food didn't follow suit on our visit.

My favorite sushi north of the river. Always fast, fresh, and clean. Service is great. Prices are fair, at 7-13 per roll, with great lunch specials...

My favorite sushi spot! Staff is always super nice, food is consistent and tasty, and there's never a wait to get in. They're always great about accommodating my 5 year old's love of sushi, too, by giving her child friendly chopsticks so she can feel special.

Crab rangoons were the best we've ever had. Cocktails were decent and sushi was good for the price point. Dumplings were not my cup of tea, but that's okay!! Excellent service!!

Sushi is phenomenal here. Firecracker roll is spicy and amazing.
